The Nature article was very shocking to read. My layman assumption is if the Spike protein is what allows the coronavirus to bind to ACE2, which is necessary to jump from bat to humans, why are mRNA vaccines encoding human cells to replicate spike? The Spike could "latch" to normally harmless viruses and make humans susceptible. Again, not an expert and no medical training but these are just some common sense deductions from the paper.
